Update 23rd April

Kevin McDonagh and Paddy and Monica Daly were €20 winners at the most recent Club Lotto draw which was held in Creighton's Bar. The jackpot wasn’t won. The house prize was won by Leanne Reynolds. It will be at €1,500 for the next draw on Saturday April 29th which will be held in the Moylurg Bar, with Team E in charge.

On Saturday evening last Brendan O'Connor on behalf of Padraig Sweeney presented a sponsorship cheque to Jim McGrath for youth development  with the club.

Brendan made the following speech on the evening:
"I am here representing Padraig Sweeney formerly of Plunkett Avenue - for the those that may not know he now resides in Sydney, Australia.
While he was on holiday last year he was approached by Jim McGrath  with a request to consider a sponsorship to help towards the youth program within Boyle GAA.
I had no idea of Jim McGrath's power of persuasions but I am fully aware of what it takes to separate Padraig from his money.
Over dinner one evening while I was visiting Padraig and Sarah, Padraig said that he was considering responding to Jim's request.
He said when you get back to Boyle I will send you a cheque to give towards the Boyle GAA program principally because I want to express my gratitude to Tony Conboy for his persistence understanding and compassion while I attended St. Mary's College, Boyle which fortified me with the academic skill to develop my business here in Australia.
I hope that maybe in some small way it might help some other young soul from Boyle  in the future. "

Boyle GAA club would like to express their sincere gratitude to Padraig for this wonderful gesture and look forward to thanking him in person on this next trip home.

The McGovern Directional Drilling sponsored seniors continue their winning ways with a good win over Creggs in the Abbey Park Saturday last. Creggs are managed by Boyle native Johnny Conroy and we wish him and Creggs all the best for the rest of the season.

The Cooney Motors/Centra sponsored juniors play St. Barry's in the Division 5 league this Sunday in Tarmonbarry at 2pm.

The minors were defeated by St. Dominic's in the league last week and now play Kilbride away in the next round on Wednesday at 7pm.

The U-14's defeated Roscommon Gaels in the division 1 league last week. Their next game is away to Clan na nGael Thursday evening at 6:30pm.

The U-12 division 1 team fell short against Roscommon Gaels and St. Dominic's in the league last week. The division 1 team play Padraig Pearses away on Saturday 29th at 12noon. The u-12 division 5 team are away to Kilglass Gaels on the 29th at 12noon.

The u-16 division 1 team play Roscommon Gaels on Sunday 30th in the Abbey Park at 2pm.

Thanks to all the coaches who turned up on Saturday for the goalkeeping workshop. A special thanks to Joe Sweeney for a great session and to his two helpers Tom and Rob. Thanks also to Kit for the refreshments. Next goalkeeping workshop is on Saturday week May 6th at the same time.

There will be a "briefing session" for club members from all sections of the Club - adult and underage male clubs and Ladies Club, on how to operate the scoreboard. It will be held in the Clubroom on Wednesday at 9pm. We encourage a full attendance from each grouping as only a limited number have knowledge of this task.

Special thanks and Bon voyage to the Mercy Sisters who have had a big role in the early education of most of our footballers down through the years.
